Puzzle Flow
Logic puzzles for Android
Four ways to play
Puzzle Flow is a calm grid-puzzle game for Android phones and tablets. There is no timer and no account: just you, a board and a puzzle to work out. Choose from four kinds of logic puzzle, Boxed, Pipeline, Knight Hop and Tally, solve levels from easy to hard, take on daily and weekly challenges, and keep your streaks going.
Get it on Google PlayBoxed
Goal: divide the whole board into rectangles. Every number on the board belongs to one rectangle and tells you how many squares that rectangle covers.
How to play
- Drag a rectangle. Press a square and drag to the opposite corner. A badge shows how many squares the rectangle covers while you drag. When it fits its number, the number moves to the middle and the rectangle fills in with its colour.
- One number, the right size. Each rectangle must hold exactly one number and cover that many squares. A rectangle with no number, two numbers or the wrong size stays on the board, but the level is not solved until you fix it. Drawing over a rectangle replaces it.
- Take one away. Tap a rectangle to remove it.
- Fill every square. The level is solved when every number has its rectangle and the rectangles cover the whole board.
Pipeline
Goal: join every pair of coloured dots with a line, and make the lines cover every square of the board.
How to play
- Find the pairs. Every colour has exactly two dots.
- Drag from dot to dot. Press a dot and drag to the dot of the same colour. Dragging back over your own line takes it back.
- Lines never cross. Dragging a line through another line breaks that line where they meet. The broken line loses everything after that point and has to be drawn again.
- Fill every square. The level is solved when all pairs are joined and the lines cover the whole board.
Knight Hop
Goal: guide a chess knight so that it lands on every open square exactly once.
How to play
- Meet the knight. It starts on the square it stands on. Grey squares are blocked and out of play.
- Jump in an L. The knight jumps two squares one way and one square to the side. Tap one of the ringed squares to jump there.
- Visit every square once. The squares you land on get a number, and you cannot land on one twice. Visit every open square to win.
Tally
Goal: cross out numbers so that every row and every column adds up to its target.
How to play
- Read the targets. The number to the right of each row and below each column is its target. A target turns faint when the numbers left in its line already add up to it.
- Cross numbers out. Tap a number to cross it out. A crossed-out number no longer counts toward its row or its column.
- Keep the ones you are sure of. Tap a crossed-out number again to mark it as kept, and once more to clear it. A kept number still counts; the mark is only a note for you.
- Hit every target. The level is solved as soon as every row and every column adds up to its target. You never have to mark numbers as kept.
Levels and packs
Every puzzle type has its own set of levels, and your progress in one never unlocks anything in another. Each type has 8 packs with 150 levels each, 1,200 levels per type, grouped into 5 pages of 30 levels.
| Pack | Board sizes |
|---|---|
| Intro Classic | 5×5 on page 1, up to 9×9 on page 5 |
| Intro Bonus | The same sizes as Classic, with harder levels |
| Mastery 5×5, 6×6, 7×7, 8×8, 9×9, 10×10 | One board size per pack, with the difficulty rising across its 150 levels |
- Levels open one by one. At the start only the first level of a pack is open. Solving a level, with any number of stars, opens the next.
- Packs open in order. The next pack opens when you have solved all 150 levels of the one before it.
- Nothing locks again. You can replay any solved level at any time to earn more stars.
- An unfinished level is saved. Close the app in the middle of a level and you can resume it, or start it over, the next time you open it.
Stars
Every solved level earns 1 to 3 stars. There is no failing and no clock: stars show how cleanly you solved the level. Every level knows the fewest steps a solve needs, and the counter at the top shows your steps against it.
| Rating | Stars | What it takes |
|---|---|---|
| Perfect | 3 | Solved in the fewest steps, with no undo, no broken step and no hint |
| Great | 2 | Solved with at most 2 extra steps or undos, or solved perfectly but with a hint |
| Solved | 1 | Any other solve |
- Undo gives the step back, but costs you. After an undo the level can no longer be Perfect until you press Restart.
- A hint caps the level at 2 stars. To earn 3 stars on a level where you used a hint, play the level again. The replay starts clean.
- Your best rating is kept. Playing again never lowers it.
Hints
If you are stuck, the Hint button helps with the puzzle: it points to the next square in Knight Hop, draws one rectangle in Boxed, completes one line in Pipeline, and fixes one number in Tally.
- You start with 5 hints. Each hint you use costs one.
- Per level. One level lets you use up to 3 hints on a 5×5 or 6×6 board, and up to 5 on a bigger board, however many you own. The hints you used on a level stay counted until you solve it, even if you restart it or close the app.
- Getting more hints. Watch a short optional ad to earn a free hint, reach a daily streak milestone (7, 30 and 100 days give 5 hints each), or buy a hint pack in the store.
- You can hold up to 100 hints at a time.
Daily and weekly puzzles
Every puzzle type has fresh puzzles that come back on a schedule, and everybody gets the same puzzles on the same date.
- Daily set: 10 levels for each puzzle type every day. They start with small 5×5 boards and end with 10×10, getting harder as you go.
- Weekly set: 30 levels for each puzzle type every week, from 5×5 up to 10×10, with five levels of each size.
- They are never locked. Every level of the current set is open as soon as it appears. A new day starts at your local midnight, and a new week starts on Monday.
Streaks
- Each puzzle type has its own daily streak and weekly streak. A day counts when you solve all 10 levels of its daily set, and a week counts when you solve all 30 of its weekly set.
- Play the next day (or week) to make the streak one longer. Skip one and the streak starts again from 1.
- Saving a streak. If you missed exactly one day or week on a streak that was at least 3 long, you can watch an optional ad to carry it on. Missing two in a row loses it, and you can use this once in a while, not all the time.
- The app can send you a reminder when your streak is about to end. You can turn reminders off in Settings.
Achievements, stats and cloud save
- 132 achievements to earn as you solve levels, finish packs and keep streaks. They appear on your Google Play Games profile when you sign in.
- Stats screen. See how many levels you solved in each puzzle type, your stars, hints used and your best streaks.
- Cloud save is optional. You can sign in to Google Play Games in Settings to back up your progress and restore it on a new phone. If you do not sign in, your progress stays on your phone.
- Made to feel good. Light, dark or system theme, sound effects and vibration you can turn off, and 12 languages: English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Italian, Greek, Russian, German and Portuguese.
Ads and going ad-free
Puzzle Flow is free to play and supported by ads. Ads are shown in menus and between levels, and never while you play a level. An ad appears after every few solved levels, not after each one.
- Optional ads. You can choose to watch an ad to earn a free hint or to save a streak.
- Ad-free subscription. Want to play without the ads you did not ask for? An optional monthly or yearly subscription makes the game ad-free. You can still watch ads for hints or streaks if you choose to.
- Hint packs. Optional one-time packs of extra hints. Nothing in the game needs a purchase: every level can be solved without hints.
- You are in control. You can cancel the subscription any time in Google Play, and the Settings screen lets you review your ad choices and restore purchases.
Questions
Is there a timer?
No. The time you take is never part of your stars. Take as long as you like.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up. Your progress is saved on your phone, and you can optionally back it up with Google Play Games.
Can I lose my progress?
Clearing the app's data or uninstalling it erases what is stored on the phone. Signing in to Google Play Games lets you restore your levels, streaks and hints.
Can I play without internet?
Yes. The puzzles are made on your phone, so you can play offline. Ads, purchases and cloud save need a connection.
I used a hint. Can I still get 3 stars?
Yes. Solve the level, then tap Play again: the new attempt starts with no hints counted, so a perfect solve earns 3 stars.
How do I get help?
